In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have launched an Airbus-wide effort to support those on the frontlines, including healthcare professionals, customers, operators, and agencies who rely on our aircraft, satellites and services to accomplish their critical missions. With the exceptional dedication of our community and reliability of our products and services, we are going above and beyond in providing assistance and delivering solutions. Whether it be transporting millions of protective face masks, producing critical medical equipment, or sending out a call for initiatives, we at Airbus are one: united in the fight against the pandemic.

Coronavirus Monitoring

Airbus is closely monitoring the evolution of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic across the globe and is assessing the situation, the impact on employees, customers, suppliers and the business. The health and safety of Airbus employees is paramount. Airbus is following WHO and local health authority guidance. In addition, Airbus has updated its workplace safety and travel recommendations to employees, customers and to visitors, according to the latest developments.

Workplace safety at Airbus sites globally

Rules are being implemented on day to day behaviors relating to hygiene, social interaction and physical distancing, ill health reporting and travel to and from Airbus’ global sites. Airbus is following national guidelines with a pause on all but essential production activities in Spain until April 9th and Canada until April 13th.  Activities in the UK and German wing plants have also been reduced over an extended three-week Easter break. Activities at Airbus’ sites in France and Spain were temporarily paused for four days on March 17th, to implement stringent health and safety processes respecting hygiene, cleaning and self-distancing. These stringent measures, standards and processes have been implemented at all Airbus sites worldwide. Airbus is doing its utmost to support employees who are affected by school and child care closures by providing maximum work flexibility. This includes enabling employees to work from home where possible and at the same time ensuring business continuity in order to meet customer commitments while ensuring the health and safety of all employees and compliance with national regulations. Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms must declare, seek medical advice and self-quarantine. Airbus is keeping all employees updated on the latest developments and recommendations.

Travel directives

Airbus employees are advised to restrict travel to business-critical missions only excluding to high risk regions. Visits to Airbus from high risk regions are halted. Employees having returned from any high-risk regions must self-quarantine for 14 days. Staff, customers and visitors must self-declare their travel history

Business impact

On March 23rd, Airbus disclosed additional measures to support employees, customers and to safeguard business continuity. The 2020 guidance was withdrawn. Airbus maintains a strong focus on backlog management, supporting customers and securing business continuity through these unprecedented times. We remain in close contact with our customers and suppliers and are working together to minimize the impact on their operations. Guillaume Faury Airbus CEO video statement: click here

Impact on the Annual General Meeting 2020

Airbus has convened its 2020 Annual General Meeting in Amsterdam on 16 April. Due to the global outbreak of COVID-19, Airbus discourages physical attendance and strongly encourages shareholders to vote by proxy in line with public health and safety measures.

Airbus joins initiatives against COVID-19

Airbus is deploying aircraft to supply additional face mask supplies from China to support the health systems in France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. Airbus engineers and technology teams have also been mobilized for the Ventilator Challenge UK consortium to accelerate production of two existing medical ventilator designs using Airbus’ industrial skills and facilities.
